Meet The Directors
Michael SemancikMr. Semancik earned a M.M. in Choral Conducting at the University of Delaware under Dr. Paul D. Head and his B.S. in Music Education from Slippery Rock University.
In his tenth year as Choral Director at Morris Knolls, Mr. Semancik oversees six choirs. The award winning program encompasses over 250 students - 60 comprise the Chorale Ensemble. Mr. Semancik has been the guest conductor of the New Jersey All-State Women’s Choir (2016), New Jersey Region 1 Mixed Chorus (2014), the Sussex County New Jersey Honors Choir (2011), and will conduct the New Jersey Region 2 Treble Chorus in January 2018. He has been an adjudicator in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania including at the ACDA Delaware Choral Festival. Mr. Semancik has presented at conventions in and around New Jersey, and the choirs under his direction have received many awards, extensive recognition, and superior ratings. He is excited to work with new members of the Academy for Performing Arts at Morris Knolls. |
Brandon LangerMr. Langer earned is Bachelors of Music in Education at the University of Delaware and will complete his M.S.E. in Curriculum and Instruction in the Spring of 2018.
In his ten years as a music educator, Mr. Langer has created and taught a diverse range of courses, including: Select and Curricular Choirs, String Ensemble, Music and Media Production, Music Appreciation, and AP Music Theory. Mr. Langer integrates 21st century skills and topics throughout the curriculum to ensure students have real world skills to draw upon beyond the high school classroom. Prior to his teaching career, Mr. Langer toured the country on the success of his former band, which gave him the opportunity to play with high profile acts like Paramore, Papa Roach, and many others. He continues to write, produce, and release albums from his home studio in Pequannock, NJ where he lives with his wife Kathryn and sons Graham and Jude. Mr. Langer looks forward to sharing his unique music industry experiences and talents with the new members of the Academy for Performing Arts at Morris Knolls. |
